Warlingham sits high on the chalk of the North Downs, a Green Belt village with Hamsey Green to the north and open downs and woodland all round. Caterham is a couple of miles southwest; Whyteleafe and the A22 corridor drop away in the valley below; Chelsham, Farleigh and Fickleshole sit out on the rural downs toward the London edge. Blanchman’s Farm Local Nature Reserve sits off Limpsfield Road (B269), a useful local landmark among the meadows and woodland on the eastern side of the village. It is a patch of big gardens, street trees and field-edge woodland, and one we cover as part of our regular Surrey run from Horley.
