Tree Felling in Horley, Banstead, Purley and the Surrounding Areas

When a tree has to come down, felling it safely is a skilled job - especially in a garden with fences, sheds and neighbours close by. We fell and sectionally dismantle trees of every size across Horley, Banstead, Purley and the surrounding villages, and take every scrap of the tree away with us.

Before we fell, we always ask whether a crown reduction would do instead - but when a tree is dead, dangerous or truly in the way, felling is the answer. Call 07519 952330 for a free quote, or send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will price it from that.

When does a tree need felling?

Most of the time a tree can be kept and brought back into shape with a reduction. Felling is for the trees that cannot: ones that are dead, dying or diseased, storm-damaged or unstable, lifting a drive or threatening a building, or simply so large and so close to the house that no amount of pruning will fix it. If that is your tree, taking it down is the safe and honest answer.

We will always tell you straight which camp your tree is in. If a reduction would keep it safely, we will say so; if it really needs to come down, we will explain why and how we will do it. Either way you get an honest opinion and a free quote before anything happens.

How we fell a tree safely

Where there is room, we fell a tree in one piece with a directional cut so it drops exactly where we want it. In a typical garden there is not, so we climb the tree and dismantle it in sections instead, roping and lowering each limb and log under control so nothing lands on a fence, a shed or a flowerbed. On big or awkward trees we bring the tracked lift where a climb is not the safe option.

Everything is planned before a cut is made: the drop zone, the rigging, the escape routes and the ground protection. The brash is chipped on site, the timber is cut into logs, and the garden is swept and cleared before we leave.

Tree felling: your questions answered

How much does it cost to fell a tree?

It depends on the size and species of the tree, how easy it is to get to and how much waste there is to clear, so we look at each one and price it properly rather than guess. A straightforward fell in an open garden is quick; a big tree that has to be dismantled over a house or a greenhouse takes longer. Quotes are free and without obligation.

Is it safe to fell a tree in a small garden?

Yes. Where there is no room to fell a tree in one piece, we climb it and take it down in sections, roping and lowering each piece under control so nothing hits a fence, a shed or the neighbour's garden. On the tightest or most awkward jobs we bring the tracked lift. It is the everyday craft of the work.

Do I need permission to fell a tree?

Sometimes. If the tree has a Tree Preservation Order or stands in a conservation area, the council needs notice before it comes down. We check the status of your tree before we quote and handle the application for you, so nothing is felled without the right consent in place.

Do you take the stump and waste away too?

Always. The brash is chipped, the timber is cut into logs and the garden is left clear. If you want the stump gone as well we can grind it out below ground level so the space is yours again - just say so when we quote.
